260m doses of bird flu vaccine imported from China
* The National Veterinary Medicine Co (NAVETCO) has signed a contract with China to import 260 million doses of bird flu vaccines to provide for localities this month.
Six million doses were distributed to southern-eastern and Mekong Delta provinces on Saturday and Sunday for the second-phase vaccination of poultry stock.
* The prime minister has released a decree on penalty to those who violate veterinary regulations. Accordingly, those who raise or sell infectious animals, including poultry, will be fined 3-5 million dong (around US$300).
* Cattlemen will be fined 50,000-200,000 dong if they do not have their animals vaccinated. They will be fined up to 800,000 dong if they use disease-infected animals to breed. If they throw away dead animals carelessly in the surrounding areas, they will be fined 1-1.5 million dong.
