350,000 new jobs created

Recent figures show that about 350,000 new jobs were created since the beginning of the year of which 80,000 jobs were created by around 10,000 newly set up businesses, 40,000 by the National Job Assistance Fund, 20,000 by foreign businesses and not to mention jobs providing services in or around industrial parks and EPZs.

New workers sent abroad in April, mainly to Taiwan and Malaysia reached 3,500, totalling 13,400 for the first four months. On the down side, 200 construction workers in Malaysia were forced to return home on March 20 before their contracts ended due to a lack of work in the troubled construction industry in Malaysia.
