Abe promises US$720m investment in Vietnam

Prime minister Shinzo Abe and representatives of Japan’s business sector promised in their meeting Sunday November 19 with Vietnamese prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung 85 billion yen (US$720 million) in planned investment over a few years and aid programmes on infrastructure, energy and information technology.
Abe and Dung met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) forum in Hanoi. As part of Japan’s aid programmes, seminars on infrastructure building and energy will be held in March next year in Vietnam. Japan also vowed to support training of several hundred Vietnamese students to work in the information technology sector every year.
