The director of Hanoi’s Viet Duc Hospital Nguyen Tien Quyet reports that in six days during the Tet Lunar New Year break, the hospital admitted 600 patients that suffered road accidents and 300 that were injured by accidents at home. Up to 170 cases had to undergo brain operations.
Quyet says that the hospital had to make full use of its four emergency wards to save 20 cases of brain injuries. Quyet warns that in the coming time, more first aid cases may occur when local people flock to spring festivities.
Dr Nguyen Quang Tuan, from the Tropical Diseases Hospital, said that the hospital received four patients of critical pneumonia from Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh on February 13. Dr Tuan says that the four patients’ diagnosis proves that they did not contract with H5N1 virus.
