Vietnam MobiFone, a provider of mobile services has sought the assistance of Aircom International, a UK-based provider of network planning and optimisation consultancy services, to provide tools to track its mobile network performance.

As part of the agreement, MobiFone will be using Optima and Direct, components of Aircom’s Enterprise 6.0 tool suite.

MobiFone, which is partly owned by the state-owned Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, is believed to be the biggest network operator in Vietnam, with its subscriber list extending beyond 8.5 million.

According to the mobile operator, Optima, an advanced network performance management and monitoring tool, is expected to help the company to effectively manage its multi-vendor, multi-technology environment.

The tool has been designed to track network performance and alert engineers about network issues and is capable of more easily distributing the relevant data to the right people.

Aircom says that Direct, which is a transmission access and core-planning tool, will enable the mobile operator to integrate transmission data from the network into a single database. This will facilitate easier network planning and optimisation.

Nick Brown, regional managing director Asia for Aircom International, said: “This is an exciting time for Aircom. Our Asia-Pacific footprint continues to expand and we are pleased to add MobiFone to the growing list of operators that benefit from our expertise. MobiFone’s growth since its inception 14 years ago has been impressive. We look forward to helping maintain a fully optimised network across the country.”
