Scholarships will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to applicants holding an offer of a place on the course they wish to study. Please follow the instructions below carefully if you wish to apply. Please note that these scholarships are not awarded automatically to DMU alumni – you must apply as below. If you do not complete all the necessary stages as instructed, you will not be eligible to receive a scholarship.
How to Apply: We will award the scholarships on a first come, first served basis so you should make your application as soon as possible.
1. Choose the course to which you would like to apply. If you would like further information or advice, please contact the Enquiry Centre on +44 (0)116 257 7513, email enquiry@dmu.ac.uk or contact the Faculty to which you wish to apply directly – you’ll find contact details in any of our prospectuses or online.
2. Complete and submit an application form for the course you wish to study. You can do this online at dmu.ac.uk/pgapp or in hard copy. Application forms can also be requested from the Faculty to which you wish to apply. If your application is successful, you will be sent an offer letter. You may already be holding an offer of a place on a course starting in September 2007.
3. Once you have your offer letter (Conditional or Unconditional), and you wish to apply for an Alumni Scholarship, write to (letter or email): Eleanor Wood, Marketing Department, Portland Building, De Montfort University, The Gateway, Leicester LE1 9BH (UK), or email: ewood01@dmu.ac.uk
In your letter/email, please write: I am holding an offer of a place on ___________________ (course) starting in September 2007 (or other date for PhD) and I would like to apply for one of the £500 Alumni Scholarships 2007. I previously studied _______________ (course) at De Montfort University and completed the course successfully in ___________ (year of graduation).
Please also provide your date of birth, your application reference number and/or your previous DMU student number (if you know it).
Deadline for Applications: If you wish to apply for an Alumni Scholarship you must write to Eleanor Wood, as above, before 31 July 2007. No applications received after this date will be accepted under any circumstances.
Allocation Process: As we receive letters/emails of application as above, we will date stamp them and file them. The scholarships will be allocated by Faculty on a first come, first served basis. The week following the deadline of 31 July 2007, we will write to the first 75 applicants and offer them the Alumni Scholarship. These 75 recipients will be asked to respond and accept the scholarship within 14 days. If we do not hear from any of the recipients within the stated deadline, their scholarship(s) may be offered to the next applicant(s) in the date order in which applications were received. The £500 scholarship will be deducted from the full tuition fee at enrolment.
