Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (Vitas) has lately released that the apparel export turnover to the US markets in the first five months of 2012 was estimated at $2.7 billion, increasing by 8.5 percent against the same period last year.

The association emphasized that despite the fact that apparel export to the US market saw lower growth rates than the previous year, the country’s textile and garment sector saw improvement in production efficiency because the price for raw materials has dropped sharply year-on-year. Meanwhile, the price of imported apparel products from US to Vietnam still increased by 13 percent against the same period last year.
