Australia’s BHP Billiton Aluminium has established a representative office in Hanoi to manage the assessment of potential US$1.6 billion bauxite mine and aluminium refinery project in the Central Highlands province of Dac Nong.
The proposed US$1.6 billion project will be comprised of a bauxite mine, transportation infrastructure and an aluminium refinery structure. The complex is expected to generate significant employment for locals, Rick Smith, the company’s country representative in Vietnam said.
The London–based BHP Billiton Aluminium has over 100 mining and energy operations in 29 countries worldwide.
