Bidv-Saigon raises US dollar deposit rates

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (Bidv)–Saigon Branch has offered new interest rates for US dollar deposits recently, said a Bidv official.
Specifically, the deposit interest rate for a two-month term is fixed at 2% a year, a three-month term 2.3% a year, a six-month term 2.5% a year, a nine-month term 2.7%, a 12 month term 3.1%, a 18 month term 3.2%, a 24 month-term 3.4% and a 60 month term 4.1% a year.
In addition, Bidv –Saigon Branch granted each client a bill of buying gifts worth 0.17%/par for each deposit of US$2,000.
Owing to the agreement on controlling the deposit interest rate in dong by the Vietnam Banking Association, banks have started to switch to raising the interest rate in US dollar deposits.
