Both bourses see contrary movements after long holiday
After a long holiday, Vietnam stock market today resumed trading with contrary movements on both bourses Hochiminh Stock Exchange (STC) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).
Particularly, the VN Index gained 6.5 points or 1.35 percent to 486.58 pts whereas the HNX Index tumbled 0.39 points or 0.47 percent to 83.19 pts.
On the southern bourse, the total trading volume including matching order trade and negotiation transactions reached over 20.63 million shares for over 569.18 billion dong, falling 15.74 percent in volume and 7.25 percent in value from the previous trading session.
On the northern bourse, the total market trade reached 19.68 million shares worth over 260.72 billion dong, down 33.15 percent in volume and 31.98 percent in value from the last trading session.
At the time of closing the trading session, there were 115 gainers and 109 losers on the southern floor while the respective figures on the northern bourse were 97 and 162.
The southern bourse today Wednesday (May 4) continued to see the strong gain of many key stocks such as MSN, VPL, BVH, EIB and PVF which made significant contribution to the gain of the VN Index.
