Car sales rose substantially in Vietnam in the first half of this year, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA). In the first six-months, 16,128 vehicles were sold in the local market, up 26% from last year’s same period, VAMA said.
The best selling car brand was Toyota with 5,602 cars -more than doubling runner-up Vidamco’s numbers. Vidamco is a joint-venture between Korean giant Daewoo Motor and a local producer.
VAMA represents 11 foreign-invested joint-venture car producers in Vietnam with total combined investment reaching US$500 million.
