A business mission representing 100 Chinese businesses has arrived in Hanoi to sound out investment opportunities in Vietnam, a local newspaper reported.
The businesses from China’s Sichuan Province displayed their goods at an exhibition which opened in Hanoi June 9. Sichuan companies have advantages in machinery manufacture, as well as chemical and food processing.
Nearly 20 CEOs of the companies joined the event to directly meet Vietnamese partners, with two-way trade revenue between Vietnam and Sichuan province reported at US$120 million for 2004.
So far, seven companies from the Chinese province have invested in Vietnam.
In China, Sichuan ranks 9th in gross domestic product (GDP) growth and 12th in industrial development.
