Water supply companies of HCM City said they are in progress of finding measures to deal with water scarcity of the city recently.
At current time, the city will supplement from 2,000 to 3,000 cubic metres of water a day from Tan Hiep water factory. However, for the long-term period, the local people have to wait until the perfection of new water pipes from Tan Hiep factory in order to have sufficient clean water. As well, Nha Be water supply has been sending four trucks carry water to provide areas facing the big lack of water in the locality.
Despite great efforts from functional agencies, there has been enough water to supply to people. In particular, there hasn’t tap water in Nha Be district for the last three weeks causing a considerable spending of money on buying clean water from other areas.
According to a local in Nha Be Huynh Ti, he has to pay 25,000 dong a day to buy water serving nine family members. More seriously, many water supply private companies increase the selling price from 5,000 to 9,000 dong a barrel making it more difficult for local people.
So as to meet the higher demand for water of locals on Tet, the people’s committee of HCM City has instructed relevant agencies to find out urgent measures to deal with the problem at the same time to propose companies and people to use and save water reasonably.
