Dean denounced for exam bribes
A student using the alias “seekvn2000” has denounced a teacher for taking up to 500,000 dong from any student wanting to pass an exam overseen by Dr Ng.T.D, a dean at the Polytechnic University of Hanoi.
The complaint of the “seekvn2002” immediately turned out the sensation among students and drew a great deal of attention from the public after being posted on the web: http://diendan.edu.net.vn in the category: “Is this the Vietnam’s university quality, Education minister?”. Thousands of people accessed to the website and discussed their opinions about the controversial issue.
Students are given gifts from their teacher on Vietnam Teachers’ Day.
When nearing the time for approving of the plan, one student announced he shot a picture when the Dean of Machine Design received bribery from students.
Immediately, teacher D called all students guided by him to return their money as noted in the following contract:
Name: Nguyen Van A
Group: Machine Design K47
I did receive the gift on Teachers’ Day from teacher D.

And the whole contract information is filed in a book to prevent the second proposal for money.
“seekvn2000” also complained teacher D doesn’t teach sufficient hours, only six out of 24 periods. Also, the amendment for the plan is required at home rather than at university. Also, the teacher is so careless in guiding students causing their redoing the plan when submitting to another teacher.
The carelessness and irresponsibility of teacher D also lies in a fact that the plan is only approved 30 minutes before presenting in front of teachers’ council.
Seekvn2005 said: “some groups prepare big money as a preparation to their plan presentation. I eyed a lot of students discussing the amount of money to bribe teacher D when they were standing outside his house.”
The issue involved the big matter of Vietnam in the university training and seen as the controversial issue. Some people say the seekvn2000 might have slandered the teacher due to his private scheme and the information society can enable a good student in informatics to upload what he likes. However, the public are biased to the seriousness of the story because it was accepted on the big online forum of the Ministry of Education and Training, also, all the information is tightly managed by the website administrator.
“In spite of hiding his real name, I’m certain all the above information is accurate and I can ensure my opinion even if confronting to the court. I have had enough information of the case already and willing to become witness if the director of the University and Post-University Tran Thi Ha requires for more proof,” said Quach Tuan Ngoc, the director of the Computer Networking Centre in the Polytechnic University of Hanoi.
