Defective artery operation on 2.4 kg premature-born baby
Surgeons at HCM City Paediatric Hospital No.1 June 13 successfully operated on a two-month old infant weighing 2.4kg who had been born prematurely to repair a defective artery.
The baby was born premature at just seven months and weighted just 1.2 kilograms. The baby was diagnosed as having inborn cardiac disease because of a redundant artery that caused severe difficulty in breathing. After being born, the baby was hospitalised for treatment and to increase weight. During the delicate surgical operation, doctors cut away the defective artery and rejoined the artery.
