In a new Mekong Delta report, regional authorities said that as of August 10 there had been two more fatalities caused by dengue fever in the region bringing the death toll caused by petechial fever to 17—13 cases more than that in June.
Now, there have been 15,500 cases of dengue fever that have been recorded. The provinces’ healthcare departments warned that the petechial fever could spread strongly and widely in the two rainy season’s major months of August and September this year.
To control the epidemic in time and effectively, the health departments recommended local healthcare centres and natives to study the mosquito density in all localities in the flooding reason and define the places that have high density of mosquitoes causing dengue fever to spray solution against mosquitoes opportunely.
Vietnam reported 73,300 cases of dengue fever infections, including 101 fatalities last year, up 108% and 74% against the year earlier, respectively.
