Eco-friendly rice strain introduced

HCM City based Vien Phat Co., Ltd. has successfully produced a high yielding ‘super clean’ rice strain. The rice variety can be grown without the use of fertiliser or pesticides, but still brings farmers a high yield.

Twenty-six households in Phu Tho district of the southern province of An Giang have trial cultivated the new rice in the 2001-2002 rice crop and yielded 6-8 tonnes of rice per hectare.
