Electronics exports targeted at US$1.5b

Vietnam Electronic Business Association has organised a meeting of development orientation of Vietnamese electronic products in 2005, in which the association targets US$1.5 billion in export turnover of the products.
Accordingly, the association will hold trade promotion programmes for electronics businesses of Vietnam in Asian and European countries, international exhibitions and fairs of electronic products and planning a development strategy of electronics and computer in 2005.
Vietnamese electronics businesses will encounter many challenges in 2005 because Asean Free Trade Area (Afta) roadmap will be implemented at the end of the year.
In 2004, Vietnam reached electronics export turnover of US$1.75 billion and US$1.4 billion in domestic revenue of the products.
