Environment group for planned Tan Rai bauxite project

Pham Khoi Nguyen, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment has conducted their field work at the site of Tan Rai bauxite- alumina complex in Lam Dong highland province.

After the trip, Nguyen revealed that the ministry would establish the supervision group to check the implementation for each item during the construction process.

He reminded the investors to focus on dealing with environment issues and confirmed that the ministry would issue the official document to ask Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group (Vinacomin) to make supplement for their report of evaluating environment impacts.

The investors would focus on compensation work for 942.66 hectares of reclaimed land and the project management board has handed over the resettlement zone for Bao Lam District’s authorities after finishing phase 1 of infrastructure construction.

Tan Rai Bauxite-Aluminum Complex with designed mining output of 4.3 million tonnes of bauxite ore per year, the designed capacity of the bauxite ore refining factory was over 1.6 million tonnes per year, and that of the alumina plant was 630,000 tonnes per year.
