EU condemns Vietnam crackdown on liberal advocates
The European Union has condemned the jailing of human rights lawyer, 42-year-old Tran Quoc Hien, who was sentenced to five years in jail for spreading anti-state propaganda and disrupting security.
His arrest was the latest in a series of trials of political activists in Vietnam.
Last week, separate courts in Hanoi and HCM City have jailed five other dissidents, including two prominent lawyers.
The German presidency of the EU has called for the release of all non-violent dissidents.
