Export cashew price hike

Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas) said April 11 that from the early year to now, export cashew nut price of Vietnam has increased by average 6% compared to that of December 2004.
Many businesses have exported cashew nuts to US at price of US$6 per kilogram. In the first three-months, Vietnam shipped 18,000 tonnes of cashew nuts, earning US$109 million, up 9% in quantity and a rise of nearly 52% in value against last year.
Currently, US is the largest importer of Vietnam cashew nuts, accounting for 40% of total cashew export turnover of Vietnam, followed by China, Holland and Australia.
Vinacas forecasts in the year Vietnam will export 110,000 tonnes of cashew nuts with earnings of US$450 million.
