February 27: Vietnam Stocks Extend Gain, Liquidity Stays High
Vietnamese stocks continued to surge today as investors continued to pick up stocks on hopes of lingering rally, sending HNX index to pass its 200 days moving average, liquidity consistently stayed at high level.
The benchmark VN Index gained 4.98 points, or 1.18 percent to end at 428.41. Volume eased 16.79 percent to 65.37 million shares worth VND931.1billion, including 3.9 million shares worth of VND82.2 billion changed hands in the put-through deals, not active as high liquidity in the order-matching market provided enough water for big orders.
VN Index opened in the green with nearly 3 million shares were traded. Market went on in caution at first but then the aggressive buying pushed the market much higher, briefly topping 430 before paring gain to close off the high as heavy weighs BVH and VIC closed down on profit taking.
VN30 added 8.08 points or 1.69 percent to 485.85 today. Volume fell by 13.47 percent to 23.1 million worth of VND464.84 billion.
The broader market breadth was positive. Among 308 listed firms on STC, gainers outweighed losers by 203-52 and 53 stocks unchanged.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) continued to be the most active stock today with 5.07 million shares traded, closing up 3.5 percent to VND14,700.
Licogi 16 JSC. (LCG) ranked second with 3.26 million shares traded, closing up 4.5 percent to VND11,600.
Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EIB) was in the third place with 3.1 million shares traded, closing up 1.2 percent to VND17,000.
Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) and Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed with 2.9 million shares and 2 million respectively.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 2/09 points or 3.12 percent to 69.16. Trading volume eased 13.28 percent to 74.78 million shares traded for VND682.42 billion of which 3.4 million shares worth VND55.16 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.
Market breadth was broadly positive with 250 gainers, 63 losers and 82 flat issues.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) was the most active stock with 10.4 million shares changed hands, closing up 5.8 percent to VND5,500.
PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked second in the list with 6.7 million shares traded, closing up 1 percent to VND10,200.
Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) came third with 5 million shares traded, closing up 1.8 percent to VND11,200.
