Japanese market analysts conducting a study in Vietnam reported that just a handful out of the 200 plastics companies in Vietnam are capable of producing industrial plastic components to meet international standards for household, electrical or computer component use. Consequently most of those higher-end plastic components are imported from neighbouring countries.

The analysts recommended the Vietnam government to invest more in high-quality plastics production to cater to Japanese companies that will concentrate on high-quality products.
