Four drug traffickers arrested
Four drug traffickers three Laotians and a Thai — have been arrested in this province bordering Laos after police seized 270,000 speed pills allegedly in their possession while they were about to be smuggled to Malaysia, police said.
Police said they also impounded cash totaling 8 million baht deposited with a bank in the name of the Thai arrested drug trafficker identified as Mr. Santi KokechaI.
Mr. Santi and three Laotians two men and a woman were nabbed yesterday after parking their four cars at a petrol station in this province. Police said the alleged drug traffickers had traveled to Laos before coming to Nong Khai.
The four reportedly told police that they had brought the speed pills from Myanmar and then traveled to Laos before the drug would be sent to an agent in Malaysia. They also told police that had successfully smuggled drugs five times earlier by hiding them inside a special compartment of their cars.
Police said they later searched the house of Mr. Santi in a village of Nong Khai which is still under the construction and seized his bank account book with money totaling 8 million baht deposited.
