French president to visit

The French president Jacques Chirac plans to visit Vietnam in October 2004, according to the French embassy in Vietnam. To prepare for the visit of the French president, Pierre Andre Wiltzer, the authorised minister of cooperation and French language and some French senators on February 24 visited Vietnam.

During the visit, the minister paid visits to Hanoi, Danang, Hue, HCM City and had meetings with Vietnamese high ranking officials, especially with the government’s members who are in charge of bilateral cooperation projects. Reportedly, on the occasion of the French president, the French government will grant aids to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries to fight against the disease of poultry influenza.
