Germany is aiming to become Vietnam’s largest importer of textile machinery and equipment, according to German Textile Machinery Association marketing director Ragar Strauch. Speaking at a press conference in HCM City this week, Strauch said Germany was currently ranked fourth in terms of equipment provision to the Vietnamese apparel industry.

However, he said the trend was improving, with Vietnam importing about 17 million euro, equivalent to around US$20.5 million, worth of German-made machinery in 2003, four times the amount imported in 1998.

The German Textile Machinery Association is a division of VDMA, the German Engineering Federation.
