Prime minister Phan Van Khai has issued Decree 55/2005/ND-CP on regulating functions, tasks and authorisations and organisational structure of the Government Inspectorate.
Accordingly, the Government Inspectorate is tasked inspection tasks in the state management scope of the government.
The Government Inspectorate has the authorisation to petition ministers to suspend implementing or abolish regulations issued ministries that contradict legal documents of the state.
The Government Inspectorate has the right to suspend implementing and petition the prime minister to abolish regulations of province-level people’s committee, or chairman of provincial people’s committee going against legal documents of the state, and of the General State Inspectorate; petition the prime minister to investigate and deal with responsibility of violators of Vietnam’s laws under the management of the prime minister.
The decree rules that the Government Inspectorate must be responsible for receiving people as well as dealing with all complaints, or denouncements of people under its authorisation.
