Government Inspectorate takes on anti-corruption task
Vietnam has added an anti-corruption unit to the government Inspectorate -the highest organisation responsible for inspecting state agencies for wrongdoings -amid its feverish effort to wipe out corruption.
Prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just signed a decision to form the anti-corruption department attached to the inspectorate.
The new department has a legal person status, has its own seal and is based in Hanoi. Its statute will be decided later by the Inspector-General.
Last month, the country’s legislature agreed to add a similar anti-corruption division to the Supreme People’s Procuracy the highest prosecutor’s office.
Last August, the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption was established and is headed by the prime minister.
