The Asian Development Bank last week approved to extend funding to the six members of the Greater Mekong Sub region, including Vietnam, for a study on electricity trade. The US$850,000 technical assistance will help the Greater Mekong Sub region (GMS) comprising Cambodia, Lao’s Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and China’s Yunnan Province prepares a regional power trade operating agreement (PTOA), the ADB said last week.

The study will review present agreements and arrangements on power trade in the Mekong area and elsewhere, and prepare a PTOA for the GMS, the bank said in a statement.
