GTZ, Metro Cash and Carry sign goods distribution deal
Representatives of the trade ministry, Metro Group and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) on October eight signed a memorandum of understanding on support for goods distribution in Vietnam.
The signing of this MoU should strengthen domestic goods distribution networks in preparation for international integration and to promote Vietnam’s WTO accession process.
Under the MoU, the Metro Cash & Carry Group will help the trade ministry in three main fields.
Firstly, it will provide practical knowledge in legal provision to control and support the distribution network.
Secondly, Metro will develop a “best practice” model for logistics centres in Vietnam.
Thirdly, Metro will organise training programmes and exchange experience and knowledge in distribution procedures and technology with producers, agents in the northern delta, Mekong Delta and Lam Dong Province.
Total funding for the project is 400,000 euro, including 200,000 euro from GTZ. The remainder will come from Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam Co, Ltd The trade ministry will provide assistance for organising training courses and overall management of the project.
