Hai Phong power plant nears bid opening

Design work for the 600MW Hai Phong Thermo-power plant is nearing completion and tenders could be opened in the third quarter of 2003.

The plant will cost seven trillion dong paid in by Vietnam Steel Corp., Machine Assembling Corp., Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Co., Civil Engineering and Construction Corp. No. 1, Vietnam Insurance Corp., and Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam. As planned, the construction of the plant would start by the first quarter of 2004 and the plant would operate by 2007.
