Vietnam?s capital Hanoi is planning a new large urban area with estimated investment reaching US$30 billion, local authorities announced recently.
Planning and design for the project will be completed in July as preparation to attract investment, the Hanoi People?s Committee said in a statement.
The North Red River urban area is planned for what is now Dong An district and will cover 11,562 hectares with total population of around 764,000 to 769,000, the committee said.
It would be the largest-ever urban development project in the capital city so far, local authorities said.
Construction work on the urban area will be divided into three phases from 2005 to 2020.
