Hanoi Recovers $66.6m In Tax Arrears

A focus on debt collection by Hanoi’s Tax Department this year has resulted in the recovery of VND1.4 trillion (US$66.6 million) in arrears, said department deputy head Thai Dung Tien.

Of the sum, VND919 billion ($43.7million) was from tax and fees while the remaining VND493 billion ($23.4 million) was from land-use fees.

Tien said tax arrears had weighed on the city’s budget. The department had estimated that by the end of June, the total tax arrears would be over VND6 trillion ($285.7million), including 2 trillion ($95 million) owed by construction and real estate enterprises.
