Hanoi temporarily bans gold in food
Hanoi health inspectors ordered a restaurant in the city on June 16 to temporarily stop adding gold to their dishes a practice that many believe is healthy for the body.
Kim Ngan Ngu Thien restaurant in Thanh Tri outlying district will stop adding gold to their specialty dishes until the inspection results and assessment from food specialists are completed, according to city inspectors under the Ministry of Health.
The restaurant will also cease circulating flyers advertising their “gold†dishes, which were handed out without consent from health authorities, they added.
Gold is not listed as a substance needed for the human body or a food additive permitted by the Ministry, inspectors confirmed.
