The HCM City Party Committee reports that in 2003, 582 members of the Vietnam Communist Party (VCP) were punished, 30 of whom were dismissed, and 51 excluded from the VCP, 239 were warned, and 262 accused. Six organisations of the Party were also punished. The inspection committee of the VCP reports that the number of punished members decreased by 32.4% from 2002.
The Vice head of the committee, Vo Van Cuong, declared that anti-corruption amongst the Party members must be more strictly enforced in 2004.
