HCM City elected new Party chief

HCM City Party delegates elected city chair Le Thanh Hai the city?s Party secretary and approved a socio-economic resolution for the next six-months at the eighth Party Congress on July 5.
In the last of three days, the fourth conference of the HCM City Party Committee transferred the new post to Politburo member Hai, who has been city chair since 2001.
Hai officially took the post until 2010 on July 5 under a decision signed on June 28 by Party Secretary general Nong Duc Manh. Hai replaces Nguyen Minh Triet, who was elected as state president by the National Assembly last week.
