The result of inspection on pharmacies at nine hospitals in HCM City shows that sales price of medicines in the pharmacies is much higher than pharmacies outside of the hospitals, reported Tran Viet Trung, chief of pharmaceutical management unit of HCM City Health Department.
Trung said that the pharmacies of these hospitals have rigid pricing structures while pharmacies outside are very flexible in adjusting medicine price. Additionally, four out of the nine hospitals are burdened by unpaid debts for medicines owed to pharmaceutical companies including People’s Hospital 115, Nguyen Trai Hospital, Tumour Hospital, Gia Dinh People’s Hospital. The maximum debt of each hospital reaches 10 billion dong and the minimum debt is 1.4 billion dong, which has caused obstacles to operations of these hospitals.
