HCM City to build new water pipeline
HCM City will develop a new water pipeline from Thu Duc water plant to Binh Thai Intersection in Thu Duc District.
The HCM City Water Supply Co is scheduled to start work on the project by the end of this month, deputy director Ly Chung Dan said after getting approval from the city government on February 16.
The 2.5-kilometerpipelinewill be the second from the water plant to Binh Thai.
“We do need a backup pipeline,” Dan said. “With the new pipeline, Thu Duc water plant can increase its daily capacity by 100,000 cubic meters from the current 750,000 cubic meters.”
The city authorities on February 17 agreed to provide an interest-free loan of 129 billion dong (US$8.3 million) for the company to carry out the project. The pipeline will be ready by April next year.
The company is also preparing another water pipeline project from the water factory to the city centre. The 10-kilometer pipeline will run in parallel with the existing pipeline and need a total capital of 627 billion dong.
