HCM City’s Q1 GDP grows 7pct y-o-y

HCM City’s GDP (gross domestic product) in the first quarter of 2012 is estimated to have reached 99.384 trillion dong (according to the real prices), rising 7 percent over the same period last year, according to HCM City Statistics Bureau.

In Q1 2011, the city’s GDP grew 10.3 percent over Q1 2010.

In Q1 2012, service sector posted a growth of 7.5 percent, contributing 4.37 percentage points to the city’s general growth, industry and construction sector increased 6.3 percent (industry surged 9.6 percent while construction up 2.2 percent), making up 2.59 percentage points to the city’s growth and agro-forestry and fisheries sector soared 4.5 percent and contributed 0.04 percentage points to the city’s growth in the quarter.

According to Hanoi Statistics Office, the capital city’s GDP in Q1 2012 grew 7.3 percent over Q1 2011.
