Hegarty mine shuts in Indonesian dispute

THE challenges of doing business in Indonesia have surfaced again, with Owen Hegarty’s G Resources suspending operations at its $900 million ($880m) Martabe goldmine following a dispute with authorities over a water pipeline.

Hong Kong-listed G Resources had been ramping up output at Martabe in recent months, but the company said yesterday it had no option but to begin scaling back all work at the project as a result of government intervention.
