Officials of HCM City Children Hospital No.1 said the hospital has not yet given free health care to children under six-years of age.
“We need more guidance from the Ministry of Health and we need funds”, said hospital director Dr Tang Chi Thuong. “If state funds are not sufficient for the free health care programme, we’ll seek financial support. We are determined to give high quality care to all children at our hospital,” Thuong said.
Between 80% and 85% of children receiving health care at the hospital are under six-years old.
According to the Ministry of Health, approximately nine million children under six-years of age will enjoy free health care, thanks to a recently approved decision by the prime minister.
