India initiates anti-dumping lawsuit against Vietnam

Directorate general of Antidumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) of India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry released the conclusion on investigating the dumping of Vietnam and China made compact lamps in the market.

Under it, DGAD confirmed, Chinese and Vietnamese producers and exporters sold compact lamps in India with a price lower than the normal value with the dumping amplitude of 1-29% and 70-85% (depending on each type of compact lamp).

Indian firms that sued Vietnamese and Chinese compact lamp companies include Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd, Havell’s India Ltd, and Osram India.

In 2003-2004, India imported 1.483 million compact lamps from Vietnam (making up 3.33% of India’s total lamp import output), 1.486 million units from 2004 to 2005 (3.23%), 5.526 million (5.93%) from 2005 to 2006, and 5.404 million (4.46%) between 2006-2007.

As for Sri Lanka whose compact marker share was below 2.59% in India, DGAD brought the exporter out of the respondent list.
