The Indonesian capital city of Jakarta is scheduled to host business forum that draws officials and business people from Asean and Latin American countries to discuss business opportunities and investments on July 8-10, an Indonesian minister said today.

The meeting will be attended by officials and business people from ten countries in Asean and their counterparts from Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile and Peru, Indonesian Trade minister Gita Wirjawan said.

The minister said that the Asean-Latin America Business Forum ( ALBF) will be opened by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on July 9.

Gita said that the two regions have enormous trade potentials to be tapped so as to mutually prosper.

But due to the ongoing financial crisis in Europe and the United States, some of countries in Latin American region need to find new market for their products and investments, he added.

Among the promising market is the Southeast Asian region with Indonesia being prominent for its huge population.
