Industrial parks attract US$18b in FDI

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will coordinate with Long An provincial People’s Committee to hold a conference today July 14 to sum up 15 years building and developing industrial zones, export processing zones, and economic zones.
The MPI said the whole country has 130 industrial parks with total area of 26,517 hectares in 45 provinces and cities, and has attracted about US$18 billion in FDI and 103 trillion dong in domestic investment capital (totalling over US$20 billion).
In 2005, the nationwide industrial zones have produced a product value which occupies 28% of industry sectors’ production value, and paid US$650 million in taxes, employed over 740,000 direct workers.
