Inpex Masela, Indonesia project to start on time, official says
Inpex Corp. will start production at its $4.9 billion Masela liquefied natural gas project in eastern Indonesia on schedule in 2016, a BPMigas spokesman said today.
“The Masela project should start production by 2016 as proposed in Inpex’s development plan for the Masela LNG floating production facility,” said Elan Biantoro, a spokesman for Indonesia’s energy regulator. “They can start the project in 2011 and it will be completed by 2016.”
The plant will have a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes a year, Evita Legowo, director general of oil and gas at the Energy Ministry, said December 13.
Inpex may delay output from its Masela LNG plant by two years to 2018, Reuters reported today, citing an unidentified company official.
