International fair to rack up more than US$100m
The organiser of the Vietnam International Trade Fair 2004 expects businesses at the fair will sign deals whose value exceeds last year’s US$100 million. Two hundred Vietnamese companies and 150 companies from 15 other countries have set up almost 350 stalls, said Pham Quynh Giang, general director of Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Co, the organiser.
The companies display fabrics, clothes, footwear, furniture, handicrafts, medical equipment and many other products at the-fair, which opened yesterday at the HCM City International Exhibition and Convention Centre and will last until Sunday.
China, Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia each have a national booth. Almost 40 companies from China, many from Yunnan Province, which borders Vietnam, have come to the fair.
The Equatorial Hotel in District 5 is hosting a workshop today on cooperation between Vietnam and Yunnan. A seminar on improving Vietnam’s competitive edge will also be held on the fair’s sidelines
