Since the beginning of this year, there have been 91 investment projects into industrial zones (IZs) and export processing zones (EPZs) in HCM City. Of the total, there are 21 foreign projects, down by 30% against last year, and 70 domestic projects, a reduction of 4.11%.
However, total newly approved capital reached US$390.73 million, a year on year increase of 34%, of which foreign investment was US$95.88 million, up by 5.29%, domestic investment 4.570 trillion dong or US$294.85 million, an increase of 47.66%. Most of foreign investment projects are small projects mainly focusing on production of consumer products, electric and mechanical products with traditional investors such as Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and South East Asia countries.
To date, there are total 940 investment projects in HCM city IZs and EPZs with total investment capital of US$2.68 billion including 408 foreign investment projects worth US$1.613 billion and 532 domestic projects worth US$1.072 billion. Total leased land areas reach 868.57 hectares.
