Japan will in September consider providing loans for HCM City to implement its first metro project, said Japan?s Ambassador to Vietnam Norio Hattori during a meeting with HCM City chair Le Thanh Hai on Friday.
The Japanese government will decide on the loans upon the outcome of a survey on the project made by relevant Japanese agencies, the Japanese envoy told Hai.
According to the ambassador, Japan?s contractors will be able to begin work on the project in 2007 if everything is favourable.
Speaking with the Daily after the meeting, chair Hai said that Japanese contractors will undertake the city?s eastern line which will connect the central area with the eastern area encompassing districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc District.
