Japanese investors pay great attention to Vietnam’s stock market
Known as Warren Buffet of Japan, the billionaire Kyu Eikan believed that opportunities in Vietnam currently are the same seen in China 10 years ago.
The statement was made in the seminar “Investment opportunities in unlisted & private equity” held on February 16 by Thang Long Securities JSC (TLS) and attended by 42 Japanese businesspeople led by Kyu Eikan.
The saturation of investment opportunities in Europe-America has pushed Japanese investors to seek opportunities in Asia’s emerging markets, in which Vietnam is attracting great attention of Japanese enterprises because of many similar cultural features between two countries.
Talking to Quach Manh Hao as deputy general director of TLS, Kyu Eikan said that he always expected Asia would be the world’s investment destination after opportunities in Europe-America were saturated.
One more reason for him to select Vietnam in his “after-China” strategy is that “I have never seen a country where people there with features in both culture and appearance similar to Japanese as Vietnamese”, he said.
But, he said his investment would base on real fundamentals, not supposes on paper. “I only invest in companies whom I directly have met, this is the reason that’s why I have to keep looking for opportunities around the world at 86 age”.
The seminar “Investment opportunities in unlisted & private equity” aimed to introduce opportunities to Japanese companies, which was within the frame of comprehensive cooperation between TLS and MBC with Japanese partners signed in last May.
TLS said it and its partners would continue implementing other investment promotion activities to confirm itself as reliant bridge between enterprises of both countries.
