July 11: Vietnam Shares Gain But Volume Falls To 6 Month Low
Vietnamese shares rose first time in 3 days as traders hunted bargain after recent sharp losses, trading volume fell to the lowest level since January 30 this year.
The benchmark VN Index added 1.89 points or 0.46 percent to 407.28. Volume fell by 20.8 percent to 22.8 million shares worth of VND407.15 billion. Put through trading contributed 3.1 million shares worth of VND71.37 billion.
The market breadth turned positive on the primary bourse where 163 stocks advanced, 80 declined, 65 closed unchanged.
The VN30 added 1.99 points or 0.41 percent, to 481.57. Amongst its 30 members, 24 gained, 2 lost and 4 unchanged.
The market opened in the red with 0.9 million shares changed hands. The trading pace was very slow and boring. Some bottom fishing efforts were seen pushing the market to the positive ground but volume did not improve. Both two sides were lack of conviction. Market closed at the high of the day but thin trading made it easily to change share prices.
Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was the most active stock on the bourse today with 1.3 million shares changed hands, closing down 0.5 percent to VND22,100.
PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) came second in liquidity with 1 million shares traded, closing at the ceiling price of VND4,800.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) ranked third with 0.9 million shares changed hands, closing up 1 percent to VND19,200 each.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX gained 0.7 point or 1.03 percent to 68.59. Trading volume fell 10.6 percent to 20.7 million shares worth VND196.43 billion.
The market breadth was positive where 164 rallied, 64 declined, 59 closed unmoved and the rest unchanged.
HNX30 gained 1.81 point or 1.43 percent to 128.27.
VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active on the measure with 3.2 million shares changed hands, closing up 2.2 percent to VND9,300.
Hanoi Building Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HBB) come second in volume on a trade of 1.7 million units, closing up 4.6 percent to settle at VND4,600 per share.
Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR) was in the third place with 1.4 million shares traded, closing up 4.6 percent to VND9,200.
